Your BHS Womens Soccer JV team started their season with two wins against Springdale and Heritage last night at home. The Tigers came out winners 7-0 against Springdale, and 2-0 against Heritage.

The first match against Springdale began evenly contested before the Tigers were able to outmaneuver their opponents. Some solid defense by Goalkeeper Olivia Brown and defenders Emma Luebker, Madeleine Leonard, Colleen Hoke, Christa Davenport and Karrington Miller kept Springdale at bay in a frantic opening quarter of an hour, before Lexi Matlock was able to open the scoring with two goals late in the first half. In the second half, goals by Abby 'Bugsy' Stolt, Andrea Kugler, Ashley Miller and Brooke Addison settled the tie. Freshmen Zoie O'Neal and Alondra Armendariz came off the bench to add some quality minutes to the side to help maintain the shutout.

Against Heritage, it took a bit longer for the Tigers to break down the stingy War Eagle defense. However, a dominant display by midfielders Brooke Addison, Stevie Law, Johana Merlos and Andrea Kugler, made sure that Heritage couldn't get at the Tiger defense. In the second half, two quick goals by Lexi Matlock midway through the period made the difference. In addition, a boisterous contingent of Varsity players in the crowd helped keep the atmosphere lively during the entire match.

JV plays again next Monday at home to Decatur at 5:00pm, while your Varsity Womens team plays at BWHS against Conway this Friday at 3:30pm in the inaugural NWA Spring Soccer Classic, sponsored by Covergirl.
