Bentonville Tigers to Receive MaxPreps Cup from MaxPreps Founder
School named by national high school sports site as most successful high school athletic program in United States for second consecutive year
Bentonville High School will receive the MaxPreps Cup trophy at halftime of the Tigers’ football game on Friday, Oct. 30. MaxPreps Founder and President Andy Beal will make the trip to Bentonville, Ark. from the MaxPreps headquarters in Northern California for the trophy presentation.
The Bentonville Tigers have now won the prestigious honor each of the past two years. MaxPreps Cup winners represent the most successful high school sports athletic programs in the country. Prior winners include Westminster (Atlanta) in 2012-13 and American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) in 2011-12.
Bentonville posted 10 state championships during the 2014-15 season — the most in the nation — to finish with 1,202 points in the final MaxPreps Cup standings. That total edged second-place Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, N.C.), which had 1,033 points. Carmel (Ind.) placed third with 948 points and six state championships. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finished No. 4 with 922 points and Darien (Conn.) ended the year at No. 5 with 908 points.
Not only did Bentonville’s Tigers earn an astounding 10 state titles, but they were also runners-up in four other Arkansas Activities Association sports.
Bentonville’s state championship-winning sports included: Football, Girls Volleyball, Girls Cross Country, Girls Track, Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming, Boys Tennis, Boys Swimming, Boys Soccer and Baseball.
The Tigers were runners-up in: Girls Golf, Boys Cross Country, Boys Track and Boys Basketball.
In prior years the MaxPreps Cup was a virtual award. This Friday’s Trophy Presentation marks the first time that a school will receive a physical trophy.
The Bentonville Tigers are off to a strong start to the 2015-16 school year, with the football team currently ranked No. 2 in the state of Arkansas by MaxPreps. The Girls Tennis team has already claimed a state title, and the boys basketball team features one of the nation’s top recruits in Malik Monk.

About the MaxPreps Cup
MaxPreps Cup rankings are compiled by awarding schools points for finishing first or second at the state level. For states that don't have state competition, point totals are adjusted to award first- and second-place teams at the section level. Points are also awarded for size of playoff division, size of state and type of sport. National rankings are also included in the tabulation of points.
